Project Summary
Background
Kemény Gábor Technicum is part of the Békéscsaba Center of Vocational Training. The school has many
students from underprivileged families, villages. The internationalization strategy is of high importance: there are
no possibilities for international development. Thus, the school aims to achieve Erasmus accreditation, the first
one in the region. Due to the pandemic, the use of digital tools is now inevitable. Digital contents and ICT tools
are the key to the successful education of Generation Z. Thus, teachers need digital competencies. Achieving
physical-mental balance is important. The difficulties of getting back to a school environment after covid could be
overcome with the help of yoga or meditation. Yet, to achieve the balance it is important to create a sustainable
environment.
We aim to support our teachers and students to gain international experience to be able to adapt to the
challenges of digitalization and climate change while protecting their physical-mental health.
Objectives
Our project has 3 main goals. First, it aims to strengthen the internationalization of the school with the help of
successful Erasmus projects, to provide opportunities for the teachers and students to gain international
experience. The short term goal is to achieve Erasmus accreditation, then to learn more about various project
opportunities, plan and develop international contacts so that there is a continuous support for professional
development abroad for our teachers and students. The second aim is to develop teachers’ digital competencies
and digital educational materials in order to be able to adapt to the changes caused by the pandemic and to
overcome the generation gap between our students and teachers. Finally, one of the most important fields to be
improved is the physical, mental, environmental balance. Our final project aim is to achieve this balance with the
help of learning more about yoga and meditation practices and about the best-practices in environmental
education.
Activities
Our aim is to provide opportunity for four people from our school to take part in teacher trainings abroad. The
participants have university degrees, work experience in the field of education, and professional English/German
language skills. Their aim is to develop personally and professionally, acquiring the new methods and strategies
specified in the programmes of the chosen trainings. Two of the chosen courses support the internationalization
project aim: they help to improve project writing and management skills, and provide teaching materials about the
EU. The third course supports digitalization: it improves the participant’s digital competencies, helps to develop
online teaching materials. To achieve the physical-mental-environmental balance, there are 2 more trainings
chosen. The yoga course introduces the participant to the world of yoga and meditation, and the environmental
course describes best-practices to take steps towards environmental awareness and sustainability.
Impact
After the project, the Erasmus team becomes more effective: project writing skills improve, international projects
are successful, so teachers and students have opportunity to gain experience abroad. Their language, digital,
professional competencies improve, they learn more about the EU. The school successfully adapts to the
changes in education caused by the pandemic. Digital skills and online teaching materials are developed.
Teaching methods will be refreshed, the quality of teaching will raise. The use of ICT tools will be motivating not
only in learning but also in creating a positive school atmosphere. To overcome the negative side of the
pandemic, yoga and meditation techniques will be introduced. Students will have less behaviour/learning
difficulties. Stress management becomes easier. The school will move towards sustainability, with green projects.
Students will learn more about the causes of climate change, and will be active in environment protection and
awareness.
